Sassy Swimwear

Its the time of year where us Fashionista’s in the Southern hemisphere embarks on the daunting task of finding the perfect( or, well the good enough for now) swimsuit.

We girls need to look stylish and feminine at all times, and with this summer’s swim wear trends achieving the look is easy. Vintage fashion has been a huge influence on trends this year and fittingly so, bathing suit designs has been inspired by gorgeous times.

Cut out Detail
Cut outs are one of the most trendy and sexy bathing suit styles for the 2010 season. However not everyone is that brave, whether its subtle cuts or huge rips they look amazing. The colors are simple to emphasize design.

Vintage styles
Marilyn Monroe in a swimsuit- well need I say more, these styles are flattering and even on curvy girls looks great. These looks are perfect for the women who loves pin- up styles,

Modern two piece
Two piece bathing suits are modern bathing suit styles which can create different looks depending on the cut and coloration. Vivid colors as well as simple monochromes look gorgeous and suit everyone’s style.

Classic one piece
The one piece bathing suit seems to be timeless and can suit everyone. Thin or curvy women can look beautiful with this swimsuit style due to the flattering cut and designs. Choose a strapless, one shoulder or regular one piece bathing suit in one or multiple colors and you will look beautiful.

Aint she Grand

Ok so everyone has been talking about Prince William finally getting engaged but I’m frankly much more interested in what she wearing,

Firstly the Ring- aaah sapphires is a girls best friend, no no wait, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. mmm I was expecting more diamonds, nevertheless The Prince Charming presented Miss Kate Middleton (note the Miss, shes not of royal decent- oh the horror in my best Queen Mother impersonation) with the late Princess Diana’s Sapphire and diamond encrusted engagement Ring

From the start Controversy reigned (excuse the pun) where the queen’s ring had been remodelled from a ring given by Prince Philip’s mother, Diana’s ring from Gerrard, the crown jeweller at that time was bought from a catalogue, BORING!!

Anyways rumour has it retailers has latched on and created a, well, knock off, as the price tag of £250,000 might seem a tad bit out the budget for us peasants. (FYI it will be available from Lipsy London as of next month)

Soooo next up the dress she wore- The royal blue Issa London dress which Kate Middleton wore to make her debut as Prince William’s fiancée sold out within hours, despite the £385 price tag. A flattering design with long sleeves makes it a practical choice for this time of year. Inspired versions have been produced quicker than it takes the time to mutter the words ‘bride-to-be’.

- The ‘Jessica’ jersey dress by occasion wear specialist Coast delivers Middleton style with aplomb for £85. With long sleeves and a knotted detail at the waist, it ticks all the boxes of a Princess-in-waiting.

- Ingenue , a little-known fashion label, has just reissued stock of their ‘Pepita’ style – a carbon-copy of Middleton’s Issa frock. Priced at £84, admirers might think it’s the real thing.

- F&F, the fashion division of Tesco, are launching a £16 version of Kate Middleton’s dress on November 23 and expect it to sell out fast. With shorter sleeves and a slightly shorter hemline, shoppers can avoid a scrum down the clothes aisle and order online .

Pass the Pocorn Baby, Im not missing this wedding for the world…..

To Clog or not to Clog

I recently bought a pair of clogs- much to may own dismay, but I must admit this trend is growing on me will post pics of my own pair soon. Not just are they comfy (ok I know you’re all going yeah right whilst rolling eyes but it really isnt a pain to walk in because of they’re thick heel) but they’re super trendy as well and set to still be around for a while, heres a few beautiful options to make any a fashionista’s heart go a flutter.

Boudoir basics

Im such a easy target when it comes to gorgeous Parisian living interiors.
Being inspired by the current Boudoir Fashion Trend, Ive came across these amazing pics.

enjoy and have a lovely week

How to Dress like Carrie Bradshaw

So if youre anything like me, youve seen pretty much all the Sex and the City series episodes and dashed out to see SATC 1 and 2 the movie. And now youre obsessed. Not nesecarily with the storyline but with the amazingly decadent clothing and shoes on offer. Completely and utterly obsessed- looks over shoulder and googles- SATC fashion- yep thats me (guilty!)

Which is why we decided to give you a few tips on how to dress like Carrie Bradshaw, and yes I know youre thinking shes a fictional character- but girls, this is someone who have seen us through the worst of man trouble and taught us- you need to be able to see your money- hanging in your closet.

Dont be afraid to experiment with colours:

Carrie has frequently been seen wearing bright colours and pairing different shades of an item with each other. If youre still a bit apprehensive of colour- try one bright item in a bag or scarve- see how you feel, if you feel comfortable enough try a pair of shoes or a belt.
Colours that works well together are:
Pink/navy
Pink/green
Red/Green
Yellow/green

Fabrics with prints is an excellent choice as you can match your accesories with a colour from the print

Carrie is always feminine in what she wears:

Carrie loves pairing her outfit with ultra-feminine pearls and luxury jewellery.
These sexy gloves and over the knee stockings as pictured above is a great way of transforming any outfit to something a bit more edgy and up to date.

Carrie is mostly seen a sky scraper heels- and we all know ho heels can make you do that cute little wiggle when walking.

Carrie loves dresses- well ALL the SATC girls loves it, in fact.

The girls absolutely loves wearing dresses, in any shape or form.
I know its winter by us in Cape Town, but why not pair your favourite summer print dress with lush tights and a boyfriend cardigan- you can even add a vintage thin belt for a bit of waist definition.

And last but not least be yourself:

Haute Interiors

I simply love going through interior design blogs, especially now that I am planning on moving out soon and into my own place. Im constantly planning and making mood boards on what I would love for my new place.

As my inspiration is constantly changing, I will posting a few ideas and inspiration on interiors quite often so you can help me decide.

Here is this weeks inspiration its a bit of contemporary mixed with a touch of art deco

So Ive been out of the blogging arena for some time now, but Im so happy to announce that I will be posting more regularly now.
Its been quite a tumultuous year for me, Im on the lookout for a new job as mine has been made redundant due to economic restraints. But Im taking everything in good spirit, everything happens for a reason and I cant wait for the next challenge to head my way.

This weeks post is short and sweet, above mentioned being short and below here the sweet….
Ive come across such a lovely tea-house, I thought I just had to share with you.
Its the Berkeley Hotel in London’s Caramel Room- Pret-a-Portea, What a gorgeous idea, the menu also changes as fashion evolves, with this seasons “clog shoe” biscuit being top of the menu at the moment.

Must have items for winter 2010

SO here in Cape Town, the weather is seriously weird, one day is scorching then the next is so cold you can feel your toes. So winter must be aproaching faster than you can say tights and chunky knits. Each year round about this time I go through my closet and asess what I have and what I need for winter. That always means doing a little trend forecast of my own.

The top looks for this season are:
- over the knee boots
- capes, capelets and cloaks
- rip and tear denim
- anything with leather and studs
- chunky knits
- female dandy
- military fashion

As you can see out of above this could actually mean anything, so I broken it down into a few key items that you can mix and match with things you currently have in your closet. Its always good sticking with the basics and building onto that

Over the knee boots:

Best worn with jeans and a plain shirt, I like wearing it with a leather jacket and interesting scarf too.

Capes and cloaks:

Chunky Knits:

Texture plays a big part in Winter clothing in 2010, with the chunkiest of chunky knits keeping us both warm and fabulous. Chunky doesn’t have to equal dowdy though – open-weave details are a must-have showing a peep of skin.

Ripped denim:

Femininity:

Probably my favourite look of the season key elements being:
* Britishness; particularly Regency era British fashion
* High collars; ruffle and bow blouses
* Cropped slim-cut jackets in both a double or single breast
* Waist coats & tailored vests
* Fob chains
* Frock coats and tail coats
* High-waisted jodhpurs

Military:

Gold detailing and ornate trims set off slick military cuts. In 2009, there are a number of different looks you can create – from rock to edgy-feminine to bohemian.

Rock Chic
For the ultimate in rock chic, skinny pants or shiny leggings are the perfect accompaniment. Wear with killer heels and a killer attitude.

Feminine
In 2009 the almighty military jacket can also be played up with a feminine touch. Think Ralph Lauren; a boxy, red military-inspired jacket paired with a floor-length feathered gown. It’s impractical, and it works.

Bohemian Luxe
Nothing compliments the Bohemian Luxe trend quite like a military-inspired piece. Team Gucci’s over-the-knee fringed boots with skinny pants, foho prints, and a strict military jacket for a sexed-up bohemian look.
